배오개(부엌박물관) Baeogae (Kitchen Museum)

<배오개>는 ‘배나무가 있는 언덕’이라는 뜻으로, 이화동에서 지대가 높은 곳에 위치함을 의미한다. 이곳은 우리의 삶에 밀접한 관련이 있는 공간 중 ‘부엌’을 주제로 한 박물관이다. 

조선 후기에 사용한 다양한 조리도구를 만날 수 있는 전시관으로, 1층 전시실과 2층 전시실에서는 조선시대에 실제로 사용하였던 석쇠와 함께 서양의 독특한 조리도구를 만날 수 있다.

계단 우측에 위치한 정사각형 창문에는 해주 가마 백자가 전시되어 있다. 해주 가마 백자는 조선시대 말기부터 구한말에 이르기까지 황해도 해주지방 일대의 민간 가마에서 제작되었다. 흰색보다는 잿빛에 가까운 바탕에 모란문, 국화문, 초화문 등 즉흥적으로 그려 내어 같은 그림이 없는 것이 특징이다. 해질 무렵, 창밖의 서울 전경과 해주 가마 백자의 다채로운 표정이 어우러져 또 다른 아름다운 풍경을 연출한다.

<Baeogae> means ‘hill with the pear tree’, and it also means it is situated on the higher parts of Ihwa-dong village. This is a museum with a closely related space in our lives under the theme of ' Kitchen '.

In the exhibition hall, visitors can see various cooking tools used during the late Joseon Dynasty, and in the exhibition hall on the first and second floors, visitors can enjoy unique western cooking tools along with the grill used during the Joseon Dynasty.

The square window on the right side of the stairs displays white porcelain from Haeju Gama. Haeju kilns were made in private kilns near Haji Room in Hwanghae-do from the end of the Joseon Dynasty to the end of the Joseon Dynasty. The painting is based on a gray background rather than white color, and has no other paintings, such as a moran door, a chrysanthemum door, or a chocolate door. At sunset, the colorful faces of white porcelain from Haeju Gama and Seoul's panoramic views outside the window create another beautiful landscape.
